Innovation and mega vendors

February 22nd, 2008

On 18th of February 2008, Mr. Calin Rangu participated at CEE IT Leaders Summit to a panel related to innovation and if mega vendors set-up the agenda of innovation. My comment was related about what innovation we are speaking: IT innovation or business innovation? The innovation should be managed by business and IT should find solutions to assure fast, flexible and solid implementations. Mega vendors can not themselves generate business innovation. Technical innovation is coming sometime from small companies until they are buying by a mega vendor. IT itself can be partner to innovation, to be the trigger, to evangelize some best practices, to synthesize and to assure a governance of change management and innovation. Of course mega vendors are necessary for there R&D and can serve some innovation ideas.

Outsourcing

February 22nd, 2008

In Outsourcing panel of CEE IT Leaders Summit, Mr Calin Rangu conclusion it was that the future of outsourcing for big companies, like clients of outsourcing services, is based on Shared Service Centers/Best-of-Breed and selective outsourcing concepts. Shared Service Center, set-up by a mother company (can be a bank) can assure services for company, to say 70%, and 30% to free market. In this way they will have a clear commitment to mother company and will be fitted for services in the market fights for contracts. The small clients will benefits of quality standards set-up by a bigger company and will benefit of economy of scale.
